The theme Wintergrove  “Christmas comes early to Skinningrove” was a great success and created lots of excitement within the village.

 For the 2018 Skinningrove Bonfire, we turned our little village into a winter wonderland! Our team of dedicated volunteers working tirelessly to ensure that all of our visitors enjoyed their evening with us. We had snow machines that really added to the atmosphere and gave a Wintergrove experience to remember. We would like to say a big thank you to everyone who contributed to Skinningrove Bonfire Fundraiser! 

The theme for the bonfire was selected by the children and mothers in the village as they wanted to bring the village alive with early festivities and make the village a place of a winter wonderland for Bonfire night. Thanks to the hardwork, dedication and generosity of all involved; it was a very merry event and a fantastic night which exceeded all our expectations.  Over the years the different themes have had lots to do with local history, however in 2018 we thought it would be great for everyone to engage with the feel of Christmas magic. The theme created quite a stir among the helpers; we had lots of interesting ideas and were able to turn most of them into reality.  The bonfire was a sleigh filled with presents. We also had a polar bear, an igloo, sparkly snowflakes, a giant handmade Christmas tree and much, much more.  What a wonderful night.! 

Skinningrove Bonfire started in 1982 and has provided a community bonfire event each year since then apart from when there has been floods in the village. The whole village gets involved with the bonfire as a giant sculptural constriction which is illuminated by fireworks before burning on Nov 5th at 7pm.
