The Saxons – The Princess, the Hero & the Dragon

This year Skinningrove Bonfire is celebrating the Saxon finds at Street Houses near Loftus

Come on down to Skinningrove & experience

a fantastic unique Bonfire & wonderful fireworks display

See the Dragon (the bonfire), Beowulf the hero.

Sparks will flying as Beowulf fights the Dragon as the Saxon Princess (with her beautiful pendant) looks on.

This year we have been exploring what has been found in the dig at Street Houses dating back to 650 & 675 AD

& mixing that with the folk lolre of the time, the epic poem Beowulf who lost his life fighting a fire breathing Dragon.

We hope you all enjoy the evening!

A lovely little film of the 2009 bonfire

Thanks Adam!

There is even a virtual bonfire!

Even in the virtual world there is a Skinningrove Bonfire.
If you check out the movie in the Jetty Project section people are dancing around the bonfire.  Although the bonfire in the movie isn’t a themed structure it’s cool that the bonfire is so significant & important that it’s been put in this film about the future.  Skinningroves future could’t be imagined without the bonfire!
